Under the tentative five-year agreement, existing full and part-time UPS Teamsters will earn $2.75 more per hour in 2023, and $7.50 more per hour over the length of the contract. Wages for existing part-timers will also be raised to no less than $21 per hour, effective immediately, according to a Teamsters statement. New part-time hires at UPS will start at $21 per hour and advance to $23 per hour.
#ups#ups strike#news#a few bucks more an hr and a raised minimum from 16.50 (what i made while i was still union last summer) to 21#(what my union ppl make currently anyway)#now im not *sure* but if the raise to 23 doesnt kick in until next yr means it wont apply to peak season (december)#sooo overtime will be like 32.50 and from next year forward it'll be 34.50#for reference... in 2021 when i started i believe i started at 25 an hr/that's what was advertised to me when i applied#a tiny win imo. i mean the min 21 during low season IS good for sure. that 16.50 period was roughhhh#but eh#anyway can we fucking hire people now???? i should not be doing union work 4/5 days a week as a supervisor/manager yet here i fucking am

detail i appreciate about the dds files for some face textures is that they leave a note on what age they are. like No Shit obviously the models are going to be different and ergo deserve a different name so attaching an age indicator is good but still its a neat way to verify ages ig
#snap chats#ALLEGEDLY. im assuming.#like there's sawashiro models that have 15 > 21 > 39#meanwhile masato has 5 > 16 > 23 and arakawa has 14 > 25#whats interesting is that arakawa's 90's-2000 model doesnt have an age attached to it. dont ask a woman her age ig idk#the face models for aoki and 2019 jo dont seem to have age indicators either but. makes sense ig#if im to assume This Is True.. then it didnt dawn on me arakawa was 14 when his pops died girl omg--#ALSO IM SO CERTAIN THESE ARE AGE INDICATORS masato would have been 23 in 2000 december#anyway... idk what to do with this info...#cant really say knowing jo's 21 doesnt do much for birthday estimates since. masato was born literally at the end of the year ☠️#but hey....... the more ik ig idk#for some reason ive been telling myself masato was 7 when jo met up with him ???? even tho jo says its been five years ??/ mental.#ok bye i wanna try to draw something before i start classes tomorrow..

Isn't it crazy how you're 3 different ages in two years
#like say you're 21 in january 2013#and your birthday is sometime in june#then by december you're 22#and in january 2014 you are still 22#but by december of that same year you are 23#2 years 2 birthdays 3 ages#like i know this is just basic math but its interesting to me

This is a developing news story and may be updated as more information is obtained. If you value such information, please support this Substack.
On Dec. 1, a woman immolated herself with a Palestinian flag outside the Israeli consulate in Atlanta.
Now, according to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department, the woman — referred to in their report as “Jane Doe” — is alive and “in stable condition” at Grady Memorial Hospital, where she has been since the immolation.
After repeated requests for her name, the department stated to this reporter in an email that it “does not disclose the identities of victims”. Repeated inquiries to Grady, which is a public hospital, went unanswered. The hospital houses the Walter L. Ingram Burn Center.
“Jane Doe” is 27.
When asked if they had made any comment to tell the public that she was still alive this entire time, the official at Atlanta Fire Rescue Department said they “shared the last updated with local media via email on 12/21/23. The release stated: ‘The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition. The security guard, who attempted to assist the burn victim, has been released from the hospital.’” Several internet searches on that quote produce no results. This would also indicate that "Jane Doe" went from critical to stable condition without public notice.
Aaron Bushnell immolated himself at the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, explaining “I will no longer be complicit in genocide” and shouting “Free Palestine!” repeatedly as he burned alive. So, his case — unlike many other self-immolations including Gregory Levey, Raymond Moules, Timothy T. Brown, Malachi Ritscher and others — has received some attention. Thus, “Jane Doe” being ignored fits with the usual pattern. Bushnell is the exception — probably because he livestreamed it. See “Ignoring Immolators Lulls the Society to Sleep.”
As Bushnell was burning himself alive, an officer pointed a gun at him, barking orders as if he constituted a threat. A security guard, Michael Harris, sustained injuries working to rescue “Jane Doe” — but there were similarities, where she was actually viewed as a potential threat.
At one point, the police report for “Jane Doe” refers to it as being a case of “arson”.
Much of the media coverage and general discussion of her self-immolation in December focused on if she had done damage. The Atlanta Police Chief said: “We believe this building remains safe, and we do not see any threat here.” The Israeli government released a statement: “It is tragic to see the hate and incitement toward Israel expressed in such a horrific way.”
Police records indicate that they obtained a search warrant and entered an apartment they believed to be associated with “Jane Doe” — initially using a drone:
The drone was able to relay information as to the layout and the belongings inside. After it was deemed "safe" entry was made with bomb technicians. While clearing the apartment no improvised explosive devices were located.
The police report also noted:
During the search a Quran was found in the bedroom along with a [sic] Arabic dictionary and a Hebrew dictionary. The bedroom bookshelf contained books related to fiction and fantasy. A "Drug use for grown ups" book was on the bookshelf as well. Two journals were seized from the bedroom. A thumbdrive was seized from the bedroom as well. A laptop computer was seized from the kitchen counter. A copy of the search warrant was left in the living room of the apartment. The front door [of] the apartment was secured before law enforcement left the premises.
When pressed for more information in compliance with an Open Records Request under Georgia law, Atlanta Fire Rescue Department claimed: “There is an ongoing and active investigation for the incident in question, which is why the only releasable information has been shared via the incident report. Investigative documentation is not available for release until the investigation is closed.”

Oh jeez I can't sleep I just realized I actually posting and people liked the posts and some of them might look at my blog and they have to look at that Meet the Artist I did when I joined over a year and a half ago when I had no idea what I was doing and I never went back to edit it and my eyes that self portrait my eyes they burn. Forget trying to be less self-deprecating about my art. I'm redoing that whole post at some point soon. I mean, I don't look any different but I know I can make that art better. I know nobody really cares and nobody's probably even looking at it so it doesn't really matter but it does to me, if you come to my blog for any reason, please for my sanity's sake avert your eyes from that art until I replace it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
#K8 Rambles#I joined Tumblr New Year's Day 2022#So I did that art... late December '21-ish? And now it's August '23#I don't honestly think I've progressed *that* much#but then I put other art I've done from similar periods of time (then and now) next to each other and it's startlingly different#So yeah I gotta fix it for my own sanity 🤣#*edit: Okay I checked and the finished art is dated January 3rd 2022#but I still probably started it December '21 because it was my New Year's resolution to get over my anxiety and join Tumblr#which I did! I just chickened out on the 'interaction' part 🤣#Still updating the art to keep from wanting to whither into dust

⛧ SELFSHIPTOBER 2024 ⛧
HELLO ALL! welcome to another year of selfshiptober. i've noticed this is pretty much the 'official' selfship tober event now, which honestly warms my heart! i love seeing what this wonderful community does with my prompts :)
this year, i'm doing things a little differently. EACH DAY HAS TWO PROMPTS ASSIGNED TO IT. the first set is SHIPPY, while the second set is SPOOKY. you may either COMBINE THE TWO PROMPTS TOGETHER or CHOOSE ONE OF THE PROMPTS. the spooky prompts are a bit on the grittier side and probably won't appeal to most, so if you'd like to only use the first set of prompts and completely ignore the second, be my guest! on the other hand, if you prefer the gritter prompts, you can only use the second set of prompts, you can do that too! if you want an extra challenge, you can create a piece that incorporates both of the day's prompts. you can also change your approach depending on how you feel that day!
there are no hard rules for this. YOU CAN START WORKING ON THIS CHALLENGE EARLY, but i encourage you to wait until october to post anything. YOU CAN ALSO CONTINUING WORKING ON IT AFTER OCTOBER ENDS! you can drag this shit out into december for all i care. just DON'T OVERWORK YOURSELF PLEASE.
without further ado, LET US PROCEED TO THE PROMPTS!

UPS has reached an agreement with the Teamsters union to avert a strike. These are the highlights of the tentative 2023-2028 agreement:
Historic wage increases. Existing full- and part-time UPS Teamsters will get $2.75 more per hour in 2023, and $7.50 more per hour over the length of the contract.
Existing part-timers will be raised up to no less than $21 per hour immediately, and part-time seniority workers earning more under a market rate adjustment would still receive all new general wage increases.
General wage increases for part-time workers will be double the amount obtained in the previous UPS Teamsters contract — and existing part-time workers will receive a 48 percent average total wage increase over the next five years.
Wage increases for full-timers will keep UPS Teamsters the highest paid delivery drivers in the nation, improving their average top rate to $49 per hour.
Current UPS Teamsters working part-time would receive longevity wage increases of up to $1.50 per hour on top of new hourly raises, compounding their earnings.
New part-time hires at UPS would start at $21 per hour and advance to $23 per hour.
All UPS Teamster drivers classified as 22.4s would be reclassified immediately to Regular Package Car Drivers and placed into seniority, ending the unfair two-tier wage system at UPS.
Safety and health protections, including vehicle air conditioning and cargo ventilation. UPS will equip in-cab A/C in all larger delivery vehicles, sprinter vans, and package cars purchased after Jan. 1, 2024. All cars get two fans and air induction vents in the cargo compartments.
All UPS Teamsters would receive Martin Luther King Day as a full holiday for the first time.
No more forced overtime on Teamster drivers’ days off. Drivers would keep one of two workweek schedules and could not be forced into overtime on scheduled off-days.
UPS Teamster part-timers will have priority to perform all seasonal support work using their own vehicles with a locked-in eight-hour guarantee. For the first time, seasonal work will be contained to five weeks only from November-December.
The creation of 7,500 new full-time Teamster jobs at UPS and the fulfillment of 22,500 open positions, establishing more opportunities through the life of the agreement for part-timers to transition to full-time work.
More than 60 total changes and improvements to the National Master Agreement — more than any other time in Teamsters history — and zero concessions from the rank-and-file.
Unions work, unionize.
